Where can I park in Capitola?

Parking is very limited, however the city has provided metered parking lots about 1/3 mile and 1.5 miles from the beach and village area. Take a look at our parking page.


What kind of entertainment is in Capitola?

Several restaurants have live music. Capitola regulations require that music is shut down at 11 pm.

How much does it cost to rent a place in Capitola?

A lot. the classified ads of the Santa Cruz Sentinel shows most one-bedroom apartments advertised above $1200/month and two-bedroom places starting around $1450/month. Two bedroom houses are $1450-$1800/month, depending on their amenities and proximity to the ocean. Decent three-bedroom homes start at around $2200/month and go up from there. Most people of limited means rent rooms in shared rental housing; don't expect to pay less than $650/month, and you may well spend more.


Does Capitola have fireworks on the Fourth of July?

The fireworks celebrations for the Fourth of July no longer take place in Capitola.
Capitola had fireworks on the Fourth of July up until the mid 1970's. Since then they have had fireworks for the city's 50th birthday celebration in 1999.

Which beaches can we build bonfires on?

You can build a bonfire on any state beach that has the concrete fire rings. Seabright State Beach and Twin Lakes State Beach. New Brighton, Rio Del Mar, Sunset, Manresa, and Palm all have firerings.

The beaches close at about 10 pm. Also, do not burn pallets in your bonfire: the nails stay behind on the beach. If you want more information, call the local state parks office at (831) 427-4868.
