Commonly Asked Questions
30 Minute Community Clean Ups

What will we do?
We pick up litter both the human variety and the dog variety (if any). Usually the human variety outweighs the dog variety by several times. Our goal is impress the city council and community members with the concern for community that dog onwers have. We also wish to raise awareness of responsible dog ownership.

What kind of trash is found on our beaches?
The Center for Marine Conservancy gathers statistics from locations all over the US. The local statistical monitoring spot is Manresa Beach.

What areas does C-DOG clean up?
Successful C-DOG Capitola Clean-Ups Days:
Depot Hill -- Hoopers Beach -- Rispin Mansion -- Park Ave

Can I lead a clean up?
Leading a clean up is really easy. You need to be at the site early, greet the volunteers, pass out supplies, tell people where to clean up. With a few helping hands we can be done quickly and get back to our family and our dogs.

What should I bring?
Bring a sweater, recycle your plastic bags for picking up, a shovel or trowel, a pair of gloves and a smile. We will supply some tools, bags and goodies.

What should I wear?
Wear old work clothes.

Will we meet in the rain?
We will meet drizzle or shine. If it is pouring rain, please plan on meeting us for the next month's work party or volunteering for another event.

How long will it take?
Depending on how many volunteers show up it will take between one to two hours. You will have time to talk with other dog owners during and after the work party.

Can I bring my dog and/or my kids?
You'll need to focus on the work at hand for an hour or so. If you bring the kids or the dog, make sure you have someone to help watch over them.

Where can I park?
You'll need to park where you can find a spot and walk to the clean up areas. Look at the map on the location's page and usually there is parking nearby.
Locations: Hooper's Beach, Rispin Mansion, Depot Hill, Park Ave

Should I bring food and drinks to share with the other volunteers?
Absolutely! We'll welcome you with open arms.

What do I get out of this?
You'll have a great, clean place to walk your pooch, the respect of the community and the satisfaction of a job well done.

Email us if you have more questions.
