Quality
According
to Santa Cruz County Environmental Health Agents Capitola's
beach water quality may be compromised (unsafe) by bird feces and non source point pollution for about 85% of the
swimming season. Please think about water quality and Monterey Bay marine life before
you feed the sea gulls and ducks.
Weather
Throughout summer, Capitola has a very cool coastal climate with a marine layer of fog and is frequently in the 60's. Local Capitolan's always go prepared with a jacket or sweater when walking down to the beach.
Parking
Very limited, fee parking is available near Capitola's beach area.
Shopping
Capitola Village was ravaged by a flood in 2011 and is in recovery. More flood video. There are many cute stores in the village full of little goodies appealing to tourists. Capitola Mall conveniently features many large box stores and a food court.
Speed Limit
Capitola is a pedestrian community. Please drive slowly when visiting our home.
